Ruth Mather

Ruth was born in December 1843 in Westhoughton and her baptism took place on September 1st, 1844 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).¹

Ruth's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Mary Leigh.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Mather and Ruth Gregory. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Edward, Ann and Mary.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died at the age of 87 in January 1931 in Blackrod.  She was buried on January 15th, 1931 at St. Katherine (B'rod).²
