Nancy was born on September 10th, 1831 in Edgworth and her baptism took place on February 13th, 1832 at Edgworth Independent.1 2  Nancy's father was Edward Mather and her mother was Ann Brambley.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Alice Entwistle. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, George, Charles, Alice, Susannah and Susannah. She had an adopted sister named Mally.  She died at the age of 55 in July 1887 in Bradshaw.  She was buried on July 30th, 1887 at St. Anne (Turton).3

‌Nancy and John were married in a religious ceremony on January 26th, 1862 at St. Peter's (Bolton).4   They had two sons and three daughters, named John, Benjamin, Mary, Rachell and Margaret.  There are no more children.
