Martha was born in 1822 in Farnworth.1  Martha's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Margaret Dawson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Eunice Ashton. She had two brothers and five sisters, named James, Francis, Maria, Rosamond, Alice, Eunice and Maria.



Martha's family with Robert Halliday

‌Martha and Robert were married in a religious ceremony on November 24th, 1845 in Farnworth.2   They had a daughter named Margaret.  There are possibly more children.
