Maria's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Margaret Dawson. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Eunice Ashton. She had two brothers and five sisters, named James, Francis, Rosamond, Alice, Eunice, Martha and Maria. She died at the age of 4 in March 1814 in Ringley. Her burial was on March 15th, 1814 in Ringley.¹
