Margaret, known as Peggy, was born in 1819 in Edgworth and her baptism took place on September 4th, 1819 at St. Anne (Turton) conducted by Curate James Spencer.1  Peggy's father was (Ann) Mather and her mother was Sarah JacksonHenry Warburton and Mary (Mercy) Mather were her grandparents through her father's adoption. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Peter, Jacob, Ann, Alice, Jane and Reuben.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.

‌Peggy and William were married in a religious ceremony on October 7th, 1839 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by Vicar J Slade and witnessed by John Lomax & James Liptrot.2  They had three sons and six daughters, named James, John, William, Fanny, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mary, Ellen and Margaret.  There are no more children.
