Lettice was born in July 1775 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on July 30th, 1775 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Lettice's father was John Mather and her mother was Jane (Jennet) Partington.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Mary Meadowcroft. She had four brothers and three sisters, named William, John, Isaac, Isaac, Catherine, Lettice and Mary.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 2 in May 1778 in Little Bolton.  She was buried on May 22nd, 1778.
