Leigh Mather 
Leigh was born in 1837 in Stalybridge.1 Leigh's father was Peter Mather and his mother was Ann Bottomley. His paternal grandparents were Otho Mather and Rhoda Unsworth. He had two brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Hannah and Sarah. He was the oldest of the five known children.-
