16 Feb 1889, John Mather (23) of Tyldesley Road, Atherton, son of Joseph Mather a spinner married Edith Ann Gwilliam (19) of Leigh Road, Atherton, daughter of Joseph Gwilliam, a Blacksmith at St Michael and All Angels, Howe Bridge, Atherton.
In 1891, John and Edith Annie were living at 5 Rose Hill, Atherton with their mnew son James Henry (1).
John and Edith were married in a religious ceremony on February 16th, 1889 in Atherton by Vicar W R Clayton and witnessed by William Latham & Eliza Smith.2
