John Mather

John was born in November 1817 in Edgworth and his baptism took place on December 21st, 1817 in Turton.¹

John's father was John Mather and his mother was Mary McQuire. His paternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Alice Fielding. He had four half-brothers and six half-sisters, named James, George, Joseph, Samuel, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth, Catherine, Elizabeth and Margaret. He died at the age of 8 in November 1825 in Bradshaw. His burial was on November 20th, 1825 at St. Anne (Turton).²

- John may be the son of this John and Mary but there is no record on the baptism that his father was deceased, instead a labourer (which John was when he married Mary). However, it is the only child of John and Mary baptised at Turton around this time.
