John Mather

John's father was James Mather and his mother was Mary Barber.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Betty Thornley. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, Kitty and Kitty.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 1 in November 1798 in Turton.  He was buried on November 17th, 1798 at Turton Chapel.²
