Jane was born in 1836 in Bolton.1  Jane's father was James (Jacobi) Mather and her mother was Margaret Wood. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William, James, Joseph, John, Thomas, Mary and Martha.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 9 in October 1845 in Bolton.2
