General Notes
The Jane that married John Chorlton was probably the daughter of John and Alice. There is no marriage record found, and Alice and James were registered as WALKER, not Mather. However, all other BMD and census records confirm Jane's maiden name was MATHER.
Jane may have been a Widow TAYLOR when she married John Chorlton (or Charlton), but no marriage chain. She may have married twice (first to Thomas Sim Smith 2 Jan 1826, Prescot, witness John Mather). She may have been Jane Mort (not Mather) when she marriad.
In 1829, Jane WALKER married John TAYLOR at Bolton.
In 1841, Jane and John Chorlton (both 30) were wilth William and Sarah Chrolton (10 & 5) at Derby Street, Great Bolton (East). Also present was her father John Mather (65) and uncle George Mather (25). Three other possible children from earlier marriages were Richard and Ann WALKER (both 15), Freerick FISH (10), and Mary TAYLOR (10).
