Hannah was born in 1813 in Liverpool and her baptism took place on March 21st, 1813 at St. Peter (Liverpool).1  Hannah's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Hannah Penketh. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Henry, John, Ann, Esther, Jane and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven known children.
