Hannah was born in 1813 in Liverpool and her baptism took place on March 21st, 1813 at St. Peter (Liverpool).1  Hannah's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Hannah Penketh. She had a brother and three sisters, named John, Esther, Jane and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the five known children.
