Hannah's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Anna Garnet.  Her maternal grandparents were Isaac Garnet and Mrs Isaac Garnet. She had two brothers and five sisters, named John, William, Alice, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth and Dinah.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.
