Elizabeth was born in 1877 in Quarlton.1  Elizabeth's father was <unknown> and her mother was Martha Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Mary Rostron. She had a brother and two sisters, named George, Richard and Sarah.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
