Eliza was born in March 1871 in Atherton.1  Eliza's father was John Mather and her mother was Margaret Edge.  Her paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Jane Mather. She had a brother named James. She had an adopted sister named Mary. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Edward, James, Thomas, John and Mary.
