Cotton Mather

Cotton was born in 1834 in India.

- 1861 UK census: Boarder (with auntie Hannah), aged 26, born Calcutta, India

Cotton's father was Rev Robert Cotton Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Sewell. His paternal grandparents were Rev James Mather and Ann Speakman. He had five brothers and a sister, named James, Richard, Robert, Samuel, Charles and Catharine. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 48 in January 1882 in London.¹
