Betty's father was Abraham Mather and her mother was Alice Gerrard. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Matthew, John, Margaret, Peggy and Betty.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 3 in January 1774 in WestLeigh.  She was buried on January 9th, 1774 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹
