Ann, known as NZ, was born in January 1806 in Manchester and her baptism took place on January 26th, 1806 at Manchester Cathedral.1  NZ's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Alice Owen.  Her paternal grandparents were William Mather and Mary Green. She had a brother and a sister, named William and Ellin.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had a half-sister named Alice.

‌NZ and William were married in a religious ceremony on January 13th, 1828 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Eccles) by Thomas Blackburne and witnessed by Thomas Turner & John Tattersall.2   They had seven sons and a daughter, named William, Lawrence, Ralph, Lawrence, Lawrence, James, Joseph and Elizabeth.  There are possibly more children.
