Alice's husband Samuel died in 1813, aged 31 and two years later, Alice had a bastard daughter Alice. Did Alice then remarry (about 1814-1820)? The Alice Mather of Eccles that married Richard Rider in 1817 was 25 (not 35). The Alice that married Richard Grundy in 1814 was even younger. However, the Alice that married James Smith in 1818 is a perfect fit.
Samuel Mather, aged 21 Alice Owen, Aged 19 Banns read Nov 7th, 14th and 21st 1802
Alice and Samuel were married in a religious ceremony on January 4th, 1803 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Eccles) by Curate Riichard Guest.1 They had a son and two daughters, named William, NZ and Ellin.
Ann, known as NZ, was born in January 1806 in Manchester and her baptism took place on January 26th, 1806 at Manchester Cathedral.2
