Ann was born in April 1839 in Bedford (Leigh) and her baptism took place on July 13th, 1839 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1 2  Ann's father was James Mather and her mother was Margaret Stockton (Slater).  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Margaret Dawson. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, Henry, Joseph, James and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the six children.  She died at 6 months old in October 1839 in Leigh.  She was buried on October 7th, 1839 in Bolton.3 4
