Albert was born on March 15th, 1869 in Chowbent and his baptism took place on April 30th, 1869 in Tyldesley.1 2  Albert's father was Richard Mather and his mother was Ellen Grundy.  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Mary Harrison. He had a brother and three sisters, named Alfred, Margaret, Elizabeth and Ada.  He was the youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 5 in April 1874 in Atherton.  He was buried on April 25th, 1874 in Tyldesley.3 4
