Thomas' father was Richard Booth and his mother was Margaret Martin. He had two brothers and a sister, named George, Levi and Florence. He was the oldest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Joseph, Adam, Richard, John, Betty, Alice, Sarah and Margaret.
