Adam's father was Richard Booth and his mother was Betty Redford. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Richard, John, Betty, Alice, Sarah and Margaret.  He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas, George, Levi and Florence.  He died at the age of 48 in 1876.
