Louisa was born in March 1855 in Tonge-with-Haulgh.1  Louisa's father was John Lomax and her mother was Margaret Bradley. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Alfred, John, Martha, Mary, Eva and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
