Edward was born in 1792 in Turton and his baptism took place on March 23rd, 1792 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Edward's father was John Lomax and his mother was Margaret Andrews. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Edward, James, John, Martha, Elizabeth and Jane.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
