Thomas was born in June 1879 in Malpas.1  Thomas' father was Robert Lewis and his mother was Eliza Roycroft.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Lewis and Mary Mullock. He had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, James and Mary.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 1 in June 1880 in Whitchurch.1
