Joseph was born in February 1891 in Bolton.1  Joseph's father was Joseph Lee and his mother was Mary Ellen Mather.  His maternal grandparents were Robert Mather (Cunliffe) and Alice Heaton. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Albert, Emma and Emily.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at 3 months old in May 1891 in Bolton.  He was buried on May 27th, 1891 at the Heaton Cemetery.2
