Fanny's father was John Jones and her mother was Catherine Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Solomon Mather and Mary (Mally) Grime. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, William, Edward, Frederick, Ernest, Ellen, Elizabeth, Alice and Mary. She was the eighth oldest of the ten children. She died in December 1863 in Turton.¹
