Florence's father was Edward Jellicoe and her mother was Mary Ellen Roscoe. Her paternal grandparents were Edward Jellicoe and Jane Woodward. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named George, Thomas, Charles, William, Richard, Louisa, Priscilla, Ann, Helen, Mary, Margaret and Jessie. She was the sixth youngest of the thirteen children.
