Rachel was born on November 1st, 1780 in Elton and her baptism took place on December 3rd, 1780 at St. John (Bury).1  Rachel's father was Christopher Isherwood and her mother was Rachel Lomax. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Christopher, James, Squire, Abel, Betty, Alice and Kitty.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
