Betty was born on February 8th, 1782 in Elton and her baptism took place on March 9th, 1783 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).1  Betty's father was Christopher Isherwood and her mother was Rachel Lomax. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Christopher, James, Squire, Abel, Rachel, Alice and Kitty.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.
