Christopher was born in 1788 in Entwistle and his baptism took place on August 31st, 1788 at St. Anne (Turton).1  Christopher's father was Christopher Isherwood and his mother was Rachel Lomax. He had three brothers and four sisters, named James, Squire, Abel, Rachel, Betty, Alice and Kitty.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
