Gyles Howarth (Giles Howarth)

Gyles was born in 1717 in Lower Darwen and his baptism took place on September 15th, 1717 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Blackburn).¹

Gyles' father was Giles Howarth and his mother was Mary Yates. His paternal grandparents were Edmund Howarth and <unknown>. He had eight brothers named Richard, Edmund, James, Thomas, John, Joseph, Benjamin and Henry.

- 7 May 1738, Giles Howarth of Lower Darwen married Alice Pomfrett. They had two daughters Mary and Grace.
  
  Did wife Alice die and Giles remarry? It seems likely with dates of marriages and births. However, Alices's death is not indexed, and Giles must have moved to Lower Harwood (near Blackburn), so it could be another Giles.
  
  27 Jan 1742, Giles Howarth of Lower Harwood and Dorothy Richardson of Blackburn were married at Blackburn. They had twin daughters the following year.
