William Holt

William was born in 1790 in Entwistle and his baptism took place on October 17th, 1790 at St. Anne (Turton).¹²

William's father was George Holt and his mother was Betty Bentley. He had five brothers and five sisters, named George, James, John, Jacob, Charles, Ellen, Peggy, Betty, Mary and Alice. He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 74 on January 17th, 1864 in Turton. His burial was on January 21st, 1864 at Christ Church, Walmsley.³⁴

- William was born 1789. This is not one of the two Williams born 1786. There are 3 or more William Holts from Turton.
  
  15 June 1823, William Holt, Widower of Standish married Jane Marsh at St. Peter's, Bolton. There were no baptisms for a William and Jane before 1823, so it is likely Hannah is from a previous marriage to Mary (as indicated by Hannah’s baptism, showing mother Mary).
  
  In 1841 William and Jane Holt (50 & 40) were at Dunscar Bar, Turton with Hannah (25), James (15), Jane (15) and Thomas (13)
