George was the son of William and Margaret Holt of Entwistle, born November 1764. After Nelly, he named the next two after his parents.
1789, George Holt, a weaver (of Entwistle), married Betty Bentley (of Edgworth) at St Peter’s, Bolton. They had 11 children.
Births for son William and before 1790 are at Entwistle. After that it is simply Turton.

George and Betty were married in a religious ceremony on February 8th, 1789 at St. Peter's (Bolton).4 They had six sons and five daughters, named William, George, James, John, Jacob, Charles, Ellen, Peggy, Betty, Mary and Alice. There are no more children.
