Jane was born in 1790 in Harwood and her baptism took place on February 10th, 1790 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Jane's father was Thomas Holt and her mother was Ann Isherwood.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Holt and Ann Meadowcroft. She had four brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Esther, George, Alice, Ann and Mary.  She was the seventh oldest of the eight children.
