Thomas was born in 1759 in Harwood and his baptism took place on August 19th, 1759 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Thomas' father was Thomas Holt and his mother was Ann Meadowcroft. He had a brother and three sisters, named James, Mally, Betty and Ann.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.
