Martha was born in 1762 and her baptism took place on January 24th, 1762 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1  Martha's father was John Hodgkinson and her mother was Elizabeth Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Hannah Rawlinson. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Henry, Thomas, Hannah, Alice, Betty, Margaret, Mary and Peggy.  She was the seventh oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 66 in January 1828.
