Phebe's father was John Grimshaw and her mother was Pheobe Cockshaw.  Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Grimshaw and Sarah Collier. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Jonathan, Jeremiah, David, Rebeccah, Tabitha and Sarah.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John and Hannah.  She died at the age of 72 on December 5th, 1783 in Knaresborough.  She was buried on December 8th, 1783 in Rawden.²
