Jeremiah's father was John Grimshaw and his mother was Pheobe Cockshaw.  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Grimshaw and Sarah Collier. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Jonathan, David, Rebeccah, Phebe, Tabitha and Sarah.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John and Hannah.  He died at the age of 67 on March 25th, 1781 in Rawden.  He was buried on March 28th, 1781 in Rawden.²
