John Grimshaw

John was born in November 1664 in Guiseley and his baptism took place there on November 23rd, 1664.¹

John's father was Abraham Grimshaw and his mother was Sarah Collier. His paternal grandparents were Edward Grimshaw and Dorytye (Dorothe) Ranger. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Jeremiah, Abraham, Josiah, Mary, Sarah and Rebecca. He was the youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 79 on August 29th, 1744 in Calverley. His burial was in August 1744 in Rawden.²

General Notes
- John Grimshaw was the 4th and youngest son of Abraham and Sarah Grimshaw.
  
  John married as his second wife Phoebe Culshaw. They had moved to Calverley by 1707 but were back in Rawdon by 1731. However, his grandson, Jonathan, was back in Calverley by no later than 1775.
  
  In 1710 John Grimshaw of Yeadon and Jeremy Grimshaw of Guiseley, along with several other Quakers were prosecuted in the exchequer for Tithes, at the suite of William Wilson, Rector of Guiseley.
