Wilfred's father was William Greenhalgh and his mother was Maria Ann Berry. His maternal grandparents were Samuel Berry and Mary Collings. He had a brother and four sisters, named Margaret, Mary, Annie, Frances and Ellen. He was the youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 62 on April 15th, 1956 in Bolton. His burial was on April 19th, 1956.²
