Leah was born in July 1830 in Harwood and her baptism took place on July 18th, 1830 in Bolton.1 2  Leah's father was John Greenhalgh and her mother was Hannah (Ann) Bridge. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Ellis, Richard, Stephen, John, Hannah and Susan.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.
