John's father was James Fleet and his mother was Louisa Eddowes. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Eddowes and Mary Ann Hughes. He had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, George and Lily. He was the youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 74 on December 31st, 1969 in Hoylake.²
