John was born in September 1852 in Wrexham.1  John's father was Edmund (Edwin) Harry Eddowes and his mother was Mary Dawson.  His paternal grandparents were John Eddowes and Mary Whitfield; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Dawson and Mary Rhodes. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Edmund, John, Sarah and Lucy.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at 5 months old in February 1853 in Wrexham.  He was buried on February 4th, 1853 in Brymbo.2
