Emy's father was Thomas Eddowes and her mother was Ann Jones.  Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Eddowes and Abigail Blythen. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, William, George, Edmund, Alfred, Arthur, Emma, Abigail and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.
