Maria was born in 1862 in Holt.1 Maria's father was Robert Davies and her mother was Anne Daulby. Her paternal grandparents were John Davies and Ann Whitfield. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William, Thomas, John, Arthur, Anne, Elizabeth, Esther and Sarah. She was the third youngest of the nine children.General Notes
