Edward was born on April 21st, 1817 in Lindley and his baptism took place on April 12th, 1819 in Highfield (Independent) conducted by Reverend R. Boothroyd.1 2  Edward's father was Edward Crosland and his mother was Mary (Mercy) Beaumont.  His paternal grandparents were Edward Crosland and Hannah Mason. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Beaumont, Edna, Joseph, Mary, Hannah and Elizabeth.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 53 in 1870 in Lindley.
