Mary was born on December 22nd, 1799 in Lindley and her baptism took place on December 22nd, 1799 at Lindley Zion Chapel.1  Mary's father was Edward Crosland and her mother was Mary (Mercy) Beaumont.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Crosland and Hannah Mason. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Beaumont, Edna, Joseph, Edward, Hannah and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
